North central Iowa research association sets annual meeting date

By Andi Anderson

The North Central Iowa Research Association, together with Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, invites the community to its annual meeting.

Scheduled for Thursday, March 28, at the Wesley Community Center, this event promises to deliver valuable updates on agricultural research and best practices.

Greg Guenther, the association president, will kick off the meeting with exciting news on the capital campaign efforts to construct a new research and outreach facility. Matt Schnabel, the farm superintendent, will then provide insights into the latest farm activities.

This year, the meeting will feature Richard Roth, nitrogen science education specialist from ISU Extension and Outreach, discussing the crucial topics of nitrogen and sulfur management in crops.

Greg Heidebrink, district forester from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, will address the importance of managing windbreaks and farm woodlands for both conservation and potential income.

Following the informative sessions, the association will conduct its annual meeting led by President Guenther, including the election of board members and officers. The association seeks enthusiastic individuals to join its board; interested members should contact Guenther for more details.

The day begins with registration and refreshments at 8:30 a.m., followed by the meeting starting at 9 a.m. Attendees can look forward to a complimentary lunch, with the event concluding by 12:30 p.m.

While there is no charge for attendance, pre-registration by March 25 is highly encouraged register by calling Matt Schnabel at 641-762-3247. Certified Crop Advisers attending will have the opportunity to earn continuing education units.

This annual meeting is supported by generous sponsors, including First Citizens National Bank, Gold-Eagle Cooperative, Calcium Products, and New Cooperative, highlighting the community's commitment to advancing agricultural research and practices in Iowa.
